Imaginative-Self

Imagination is one of the best gifts that we, human beings are enthroned with. According to Merriam- Webster dictionary, imagination is defined as the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality; a creative ability; a creation of mind. It is the rudimentary foundation for creativity. It is a powerful tool which is often used in a number of psychological treatments such as phobias, depressions, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, overcoming writers block and so on. It is a tool often used by humans and myriad animal species to visualize their goals. I use imagination as a medium to de-clutter my disheveled thoughts and form a vivid picture of my future goals, aspirations and targets.

Erik Erickson’s theory of Psychosocial development stages of human being illustrates that there are eight stages of human Psychological development. Laconically, it sheds light on the fact that children of age three to five, undergo a vital phase of exploration and play. Psychologist Robert W Mitchell calls children as proto-typical pretenders. This is a phase of pretend play and limitless imagination; it also emboldens a sense of self-initiative amongst the younglings. Imagination ceases to play a crucial role in human life gradually as we grow and get acquainted with the dissolute world around us. By luck, if we reach our final stage of life- Integrity vs Bitterness, we might ruminate over our past achievements or failure. Now in my sixth psychosocial development stage- Intimacy versus Isolation, lamentably my imagination has been vanquished by the external environmental factors I encountered.

Hence at 30 years old, possessing finite imaginative proficiency, I would like to answer your question by introducing you to my imaginative-self, Paru, who is at present, sipping her evening tea on her porch and silently relishing gentle pecks by the deciduous autumnal breeze. Paru is an explorer, adventurer and trekker; she is empathetic, compassionate and benevolent. She has travelled around fifteen countries, one country a year. Her beloved get-away idea is to spend her precious time on mountains or romancing with nature. Her flamboyant life has witnessed the lost city of Macchu Picchu in Peru, enjoyed the legendary Inca trail and savored the sleep under the world-renowned Dark skies of NamibRand Nature reserve in Namibia. One of her best expeditions was when she swam with the turtles in Maui and went snorkeling in Hawaii with gentle prehistoric and sacred turtles. Furthermore, her love for travel allured her to pay a visit to a very rare and endangered species, Puffins in the Faroe Islands. She explored local cuisine in the villages and also opted to try kayaking. Likewise, she has also encountered the most magnificent Aurora Borealis in Lyngenfjord, Norway. In addition to all the above mentioned places, she has concocted a resolution to take her family to a different part of the world, every vacation. So far she has visited France, Italy, Germany, Seychelles, UAE, Mauritius, Singapore, Belgium, Switzerland, Amsterdam and Turkey. She desires to cover at least 100 countries until she ceases to exist. Her tenacious passion for travelling prompts her to provide an adventuresome life to her daughters, to fraternize with distinctive people and comprehend their culture.

Paru currently lives in Wesley Avenue in Mississauga, Canada with her two daughters and parents. She is bodacious, venturesome, benevolent and an individualist. She invests her productive time in developing her forte. She has already published three fiction and five non-fiction books, each of which sold more than 100,000 copies. She is a proud proprietor of a library at her mansion which encompasses around 100 books. She spends hours and hours in her favorite spot- an armchair in her library, turning pages after pages. Paru owns her group of franchise cloud kitchens, which she started from scratch and now is enjoying its colossal returns reposefully. She takes great pleasure in cooking for her family. Everyday is a new venture in the world of gastronomy.

Paru is a philanthropist and helps in funding education and other necessities of a Non-Profit NGO run in India. This NGO is a Home to fifty dispossessed children who have fought their misfortunes with tears before they found this safe abode. Paru visits the NGO whenever she flies home to India. She is satisfied, her mind is tranquil with the resplendent path her life is venturing now. In her spare time, she fancies playing her guitar in her backyard with her kids and parents, singing nostalgic and crazy songs. Paru falls asleep peacefully, perfectly conscious that she can keep her kids and her parents safe and beyond everything, she could provide the best form of care, education, shelter, food and life for them.

With my sparse imaginative skills, this is the best version of creativity which I could exhibit at this stage of my life. I believe leading a life of exceptional quality, be able to foster the needs of my family and destitute kids would be the best version of imagination I could create for myself. There are many parts of Paru’s life that I wish to incorporate in my current life. Thus Paru remains an object of desire which I intend of acquiring with undeterred determination, diligence and perseverance. She is a vision which galvanizes my unrelenting tenacity to always move onward. I hope you had a pleasant experience being acquainted with Paru.

Take care!!! Stay connected .. #postaweek
